Totana

Totana is a great little town to visit, especially on a Wednesday when the market is held in the streets, wither side of the dry river bed.

IA stunning location for a day out, with its picturesque walks, barbecue areas, cycle tracks, snack huts, cafeteria and outstanding views.Drive up through Totana and start going up hill past orange and lemon groves, then through an avenue of pine trees. You are now at the start of the trail!!

To the west of Camposol and Mazarron, Sierra Espuña National Park

A walk round the deserted mines is enjoyable whoever you are! - Either you can enjoy being able to scramble freely around the deserted works or you can just take in the rustic beauty and scenic views.

Sierra Espuña

Cathedral de Santa Maria

Construction began in 1394 on the site of an old mosque; however there's not a hint of 14th century in the splendid western facade. The original Gothic front suffered irreparable damage from a flood of the neaby River in 1735, and was subsequently renovated in the Baroque style. Inside the cathedral is equally impressive and noted for 16th century style plasteresque decor. In main chapel is an unremarkable urn containing some grisly remains - the heart of Alfonso the Wise, bequeathed by the 13th century king long before his death.

Murcia

The Regional capital is a fine modern city with excellent shops and many interesting places to visit. There are regular bus services between Murcia and Mazarron / Puerto de Mazarron and taking a bus ride can be a better alternative to a car as parking is at a premium here. Murcia is a university town and so has a fair amount of nightlife.

Puerto de Mazarron

The coastal areas of Mazarron boast some of the finest beaches in Spain, and the generally untouched nature of the coastline and countryside appeals to those who seek a tranquil environment. This is a popular resort for Spanish families and in the peak season (July and August) the population swells. At other times of the year it can be very quiet which makes puerto de mazarron ideal for that quiet "get away from it all" style holiday favoured by many.
