Mazarrón is a small Spanish town that many people will not have heard of.

That is because until recently it was only the Spanish that enjoyed spending time here.

The lack of large hotels means that this is not a resort but rather a typical Spanish town, frequented by the Spanish.

Mazarron is situated in the province of Murcia and is actually two towns in one. There is the main town with its town hall, daily indoor fresh produce market, banks, medical facilities, shops etc. Then, less than 5 minutes drive away, there is its pretty little seafront sister, Puerto de Mazarron. Here you will find a harbour and marina, bars and restaurants, along with superb beaches and coves.

There are no English style pubs, clubs, fish and chip shops or McDonalds in Mazarrón. This area remains unspoilt from commercialism and is the ideal destination for those looking for an authentic Spanish lifestyle. You will find no heavy industry in this area, and the region is famous for farming and agriculture. Take your time to explore this beautiful sea side town. If you want to experience the Spain of old then Mazarrón is for you.

Several new Marinas have been developed to help attract the tourist and sailing fraternity alike.

In the Port of Mazarrón the  funding has transformed the  small marina into a vibrant and sophisticated Marina with 335 berths and a nautical clubhouse, with café and restaurant. In the Port of San Pedro del Pinator, 243 new moorings are to be constructed and there will be more leisure facilities in the harbour of Cartagena. Beautiful new promenades are being built in Puerto de Mazarron.

      Mazarrón

This is a approx 45 minutes from Camposol and is well worths worthth visit, for the drive of nothing else.

From Camposol, drive to the end of the 603 (towards Mazarron), and then take the 332 towards Cartagena. You will leave the Port area (on the 332) at the Alamillo roundabout, which is easily recognisable as it has a boat in the middle.Continue on the 332 towards Cartagena. Just before the Repsol petrol station (which is on your left after a small roadside bar), turn right onto the E22, sign posted to Isla Plana and La Azohia. Drive through Isla Plana and when you reach a fork with another small boat on it, go left towards Cartagena. Then turn right at the first tarmac road onto the E23, signposted Campillo de Adentro.

Drive through Campillo de Adentro, follow the road uphill andmany bends until you finally reach a left turn signposted Torretera Cortada Propeidad Militar' and "Prohibidado El Paso Propeidad Militar' (old signs). Turn left and follow this road until you reach the fort, passing through a set of green metal gates with `no entry' signs. Continue along the track to the top where there is a car park on a level with two of the guns.
